The Mesh-Current Method (Mesh Analysis)
Steps
- Identify all the meshes (any loop that starts and end at the same node and does not have any other loops in it)
- Label all mesh currents
- a branch current is different than a mesh current
- make all the mesh currents clockwise (or at least the same direction)
- Write KVL equations for each mesh as a function of mesh currents
- Solve the system of equations for the mesh currents
With Current Source
- Current source unique to one mesh → The mesh’s current is the source value
- Current source shared by two meshes → Create super mesh
